The Best Birthday Presents…

The best birthday presents are things you never expected. For example, this very strange birthday link from the lovely and talented Kate R. (a.k.a. Summer Devon)
There are also a couple of fortuitous events that just happened to happen on my birthday. The first was the Best.Sale.Ever! It’s like this: The Macy’s in Pasadena is housed in a historic building (which, in LA, means it’s like 60 years old. Los Angeles Architecture years are like dog years.). So, because they want to bring the building back to its former glory, the very astute execs at Macy’s decided to clear the entire store to the bare walls, and embark on a six-month renovation plan. What did this mean for me? It meant at least 80% off shoes!

In a way, I feel my shopping life has peaked. Never again will I encounter so magnificent a sale. Never again will I buy a pair of adorably impractical $125 patent-leather peep-toe platform stilettos for the low, low price of $10.78. I wish I could post pics, but my desktop computer is still out of commission.

The other nice thing that happened today was this shout-out for Ember from Jenny Rappaport, an agent with L. Perkins Agency, on the company blog, LIT SOUP. Thanks, Jenny!

  1. Are you kidding me?! $10.78?! I’m so jealous right now. I bet they’re gorgeous too. Post a pic! ;)

And yay for the shout-out! Congrats. That’s really awesome.

  2. I went and checked that shout out, and that is just SO cool. Really, really excellent.

Is it your birthday? Happy birthday.

Oh, and I personally would like to see those shoes whenEVER you get your technology back online.

  3. And I didn’t even know it was your birthday…

Glad you enjoyed the shout-out. =)

  4. Happy birthday, Bettie!!!! :)

  5. Well, obviously Jenny has excellent taste, cause Ember is one of the best erotic romances I’ve ever read, and I’d hate to think I might be wrong about anything!

80% off shoes?!!!! I am green. Green.

    Happy birthday!

  6. And that is one seriously twisted merman-o-gram…

  7. Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone, and, I agree KIS, the merman of gram is weird…fascinatingly so.

  8. Happy Belated B-day.

And I had no idea Ember was an erotic romance.

I guess I should have known, since reading the first installment inspired me to write a bangfest of my own called One Night Stands. Ha!

  9. And I had no idea Ember was an erotic romance.

You know, I said the same thing to my husband. I said, “I don’t really think of it as an erotic romance. I mean, there are only two–maybe three–love scenes in it, and they’re short.”

To which he replied, “You mean, two or three, not counting the masturbation scene in chapter one.”

:( It’s rather hard to make the case that your story isn’t an erotic romance when you have to use the phrase “Not counting the masturbation scene in chapter one.”

…inspired me to write a bangfest of my own called One Night Stands

Sherry, you naughty girl. Will we be seeing this story out any time soon?

  10. Hmm…Delicious has a masturbation scene. Not in chapter 1 but mind you it’s there. Let me go update my resume.

You’ll be seeing One Night Stands when you have something to swap for it. :-P
