Doppelgangered? Bettie Sharpe at Query Tracker
Update: I’m now officially unweirded, and just plain grateful. The other Bettie Sharpe has kindly altered her screen name so it won’t show up on Google.
Ms Sharpe, you are more than gracious, kinder than kind. I wouldn’t have asked it, but I truly appreciate it.

How weird. Since March 17th, 2008 there has been someone posting at Query Tracker under the name Bettie Sharpe. This other Bettie, she is not me. It’s not like I own the name, but this is weirding me out.
Mainly, I’m weirded out because she has posted things I wouldn’t say. [excerpt deleted] –just because it’s something I wouldn’t say doesn’t mean I have to quote it for everyone to read. Post in haste, regret at leisure…
To be clear: That lady, she ain’t me. The Bettie Sharpe who posts at Query Tracker is NOT ME. Of course, she may want to scream the same thing. Not everyone wants to be associated with the glamorous, highly-respected Romance genre
.

Dear Bettie,
I am glad to have removed the confusion, and I do regret causing you any feelings of “weirdness”. (The world gives us a large enough daily dose of that as it is!)
And let me say, that folks who look down their noses at Romance ought to try their hand at it sometime. Like all writing, it’s bloody difficult to do well, and I admire your success.
Take care, and I wish you the very best of luck with all your present and future projects!

dear bettie (the query tracker gal)
what grace it is with which you reply and respond to the confusion! i am but a peruser of this site for the first time, looking to see if anyone has anything negative to say about query tracker. and i came across this conversation. i just had to say it’s rare to see such dignified and kind words. and as you state, writing, all of it, is “bloody difficult” and should be appreciated as an art form.
best,
